Social media is extremely upset with the coverage being given by mainstream news outlets to the Black Church burnings that have come days after the Charleston Shooting. The hashtag #WhoIsBurningBlackChurches has started trending on Twitter today. Many are wondering why this isn’t emergent. Why are the same people who talked about every burning thing in Ferguson and Baltimore now suddenly mute when Black churches are being burned? Or instead of being mute about it, giving it little to no coverage and trying to make it seem accidental and non-hate related.
What if there were a resurgence of terrorist attacks on American churches. Should 24news make time for that? #WhoIsBurningBlackChurches?

A plane disappears & CNN has hours on end of coverage.
But, figuring out #WhoIsBurningBlackChurches is left for twitter to cover I guess.

Hypocrisy is when people who decry destruction of property during riots are silent when black churches burn. #WhoIsBurningBlackChurches

This wouldn’t be the first time Black Churches have been burned. Just like the confederate flag, the south boasts a disrespectful and demeaning history for Blacks. These times remind people of the 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing which claimed the lives of four young girls. They remind people that there is a reason to say #BlackLivesMatter. Most importantly, they remind people that why we have made progress, we still have a long way to go.
