Jada Pinkett Smith Says T.I. Will Address Controversial Hymen Inspection Comments on ‘Red Table Talk’

The rapper said his intentions have been misconstrued and misconceived.

“From a place of truth, I began to embellish and exaggerate,” T.I. said. “And I think that a lot of people kinda took it extremely literal. Because if you put any of my reputation, who I am as a father and who’ve I’ve been, I honestly thought people knew me better than that.”

He clarified that (1) he was never in the exam room, (2) it’s not something presently happening and that (3) Deyjah’s mother was always present.

He however did not say getting reports about her hymen was inappropriate. The inappropriate part to him was publicly speaking about it.

“There was never any objection. She did have a problem with me talking about it however. And I understand that. And I am incredibly apologetic to her for that,” said T.I.

T.I. then questioned the role of the father in today’s society.

“A father like myself who wants to as involved and as attentive as possible — We could draw the conclusion of we just donate sperm and come pay for things. We don’t really have no say so in how things are handled.”

Co-host Adrienne Banfield Norris quickly refuted his conclusion.

“No that’s not true,” Norris responded. “I don’t think anybody has problem with you being involved in that. I think it was more like ‘that’s so, so very personal.'”

T.I. and co-host Jada Pinkett Smith then cosigned that the “hymen part” was the issue with his comments.

When asked about the difference between his sons and daughters regarding their virginities, T.I. said the stakes are higher for girls than boys.

“If my son goes out and gets a girl pregnant, how is the household changed for those nine months? The household does not necessarily change those nine months. Whereas if my daughter come home [pregnant], my household is changed immediately.”

As before, a lot of social users still thought T.I.’s stance was inappropriate.

T.I. did mention that his daughter and her mother Ms. Niko welcomed his presence at gynecologist appointments; however a post Ms. Niko made after his appearance seems to suggest otherwise.

And prior to T.I.’s appearance on Red Table Talk, Deyjah liked a tweet about him being possessive and controlling (and also deleted her social accounts).

However, T.I. says he only came forward addressed it because she granted him permission.

This episode is only part one of T.I. and Tiny’s visit to the table. Part two will explore their relationship, infidelity and more. Watch part one below:
