Solange Takes Up For Takiyah Thompson Before Deleting Twitter Account

The Grammy Award winning artist Solange recently deleted her twitter and posted a “f*ck you” message to all the White supremacists and neo-nazis.

The last week in the United States has put in the media headlines what a lot of people already knew, racism is alive and well. With Charlottesville, 45’s embarrassing press conferences and all the protests erupting in response, social media has been a mentally debilitating space, and Solange has had enough.

She decided to leave the social network platform Twitter, but not before taking up for 22-year-old protestor Takiyah Thompson. Check out her last tweet in which Solange calls Thompson her new hero:

Thompson was arrested Tuesday, August 15th in connection with the toppling of a Confederate monument outside the Durham County courthouse. According to The Root, Thompson has been hit with two felonies and two misdemeanor charges.

“The people decided to take matters into our own hands and remove the statue,” Thompson told ABC 11. “We are tired of waiting on politicians who could have voted to remove the white supremacist statues years ago, but they failed to act. So we acted.”

As of now, Thompson is out on bond. You can donate to her legal fund here.

After deleting her Twitter account, Solange took to her Instagram stories to further explain her disdain. Read her “f*ck you” post below:

Solange, your anger is understood.
