The late rapper Nipsey Hussle’s LP “Victory Lap” has been certified platinum (selling over one million copies) by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
“Victory Lap” was Hussle’s, who was fatally shot last March, first album. It followed numerous mixtapes previously released by the rapper.
It debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart and peaked at No. 2 following his death.
“Victory Lap” was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 2019 Grammys. Hussle was considered one of the front runners for the award but ultimately lost to Cardi B.
Hussle is currently nominated in three categories for the 2020 Grammy Awards.
The certification was announced by DJ V.I.P. who was Hussle’s official DJ.
Although the certification isn’t yet available on RIAA’s website, the association has endorsed the certification as true by retweeting DJ V.I.P.’s tweet.
A posthumous congratulations to Nipsey Hussle and all the artists producers and writers who worked on “Victory Lap.” The marathon continues.
