Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child Is Engaged to Pastor Chad Johnson

He liked it, so he put a ring on it! Destiny’s Child star Michelle Williams exclusively revealed to People that she and pro sport chaplain Chad Johnson are engaged.

Williams and her husband-to-be met in March of 2017 when she attended a spiritual retreat in Arizona run by Johnson. The two connected instantly, but their relationship developed over the next few months via text and FaceTime.

“We spent almost three months without even seeing each other, just building a strong foundation on the phone and through FaceTime,” Johnson told People. “It was really built on friendship and communication.”

Their first date was in July of 2017 at wedding in Dominican Republic. Johnson knew then Michelle was the one. “I told her, ‘I’ve been looking. I don’t want to look anymore. I’m done. My search is over.”

Now the couple is engaged and will be getting married this summer. Williams has already chosen her dress.

Williams hopes their story can inspire others to be patient. “ […] Don’t lose hope,” said Williams. “But definitely be doing what you can do to make yourself a better person for the person that possibly is on the way for the way for you.”

Congratulations to Michelle Williams and Chad Johnson!
