Our Forever First Lady Michelle Obama is coming to the streaming screen on May 6th with a documentary following her Becoming journey.
The documentary, titled after her best-selling memoir, is being released by Netflix.
It will serve as the next project from Michelle and former President Barack Obama’s exclusive deal between the streamer and their company Higher Ground Productions. Their first film, American Factory, won the 2020 Oscar for Best Documentary Feature.
Becoming, directed by Nadia Hallgren, will take a look at Michelle Obama’s life and her experiences on the international tour for the memoir.
“Those months I spent traveling—meeting and connecting with people in cities across the globe—drove home the idea that what we share in common is deep and real and can’t be messed with,” penned Michelle Obama on Instagram.
She continued: “In groups large and small, young and old, unique and united, we came together and shared stories, filling those spaces with our joys, worries, and dreams. We processed the past and imagined a better future. In talking about the idea of ‘becoming,’ many of us dared to say our hopes out loud.”
