Lil Nas X is confident in his skin, on God.
The “Old Town Road” rapper took the comedic, high road on Wednesday after Atlanta Rapper Pastor Troy shared a few unsolicited thoughts on the pink Versace ensemble he wore to the Grammys.
The Atlanta rapper shared his views on Instagram under a photo of Lil Nas X writing, “Welp, Guess I won’t be winning a GRAMMY… if this what I gotta wear” “They love to push this s*** on Our Kids!!
In his rant Troy also said, “their agenda is to take the masculinity from men, black men especially,” and blamed his lack of a Grammy on society’s acceptance of self-expression.
It’s clear that the heteronormative stereotype of the ideal Black male is still strong in society. And Troy is not the first rapper to make a comment such as this one.
However, unfortunately for Troy, Nas X’s fans and social users in general weren’t here for his stance.
Many social users expressed their disdain for Troy’s unwarranted homophobic comments, and “Pastor Troy” began trending Twitter.
On Thursday, fellow Grammy winner Billy Porter shared that he supported Nas X.
In an exclusive with TMZ, Porter said he’s totally proud of the way Nas X responded.
Confidence and a sense of humor is obviously key, attributes Lil Nas X, now a 2x Grammy winner, clearly has.
