Lebron James and Octavia Spencer Team Up For Series On Madam C.J. Walker

Lebron James is making moves off the court with Academy Award winning actress Octavia Spencer. The duo has teamed up to create a series about the life of game changer Madam C.J. Walker.

James’ production company SpringHill Entertainment is spearheading the project. James is set to executive produce the limited series along with his company’s co-founder, Maverick Carter. Spencer is slated to star in the series as Walker.

According to Variety, the series is based on the book “On Her Own Ground” by A’Lelia Bundles, Walker’s great-great-granddaughter, who will also serve as a consultant on the series.

Nicole Asher is on board to write and co-exec produce and “Black Nativity” helmer Kasi Lemmons will direct the pilot and also exec produce.

Sources told Variety that Netflix is interested in the series and is the likely destination. The steaming service had no comment on their involvement in the project.
