Lauren London and Jill Scott are joining the cast of FX’s pilot, Snowfall. Scott is currently out promoting her amazing new album Woman, and London just recently finished the fan revived hit show The Game, so this a great move for both women!
Snowfall was created by the Boyz N The Hood director John Singleton and Eric Amadio. The show focuses on the beginnings of a crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles. As reported by Deadline, the Presidents of Original Programming Nick Grad and Eric Schrier at FX gave their take on the show when the announcement of the pilot being picked up was made. “Snowfall takes us on a wild ride through one of LA’s most fascinating cultural and social periods, and no one can tell this story better than John Singleton,” said Schrier. “The pilot script by John and Eric brilliantly depicts the era through the story of three captivating characters, and we can’t wait to see John’s execution of it.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has confirmed that the drama has added Jill Scott and Lauren London. Scott will play Sharon “Cissy” Saint, the no-nonsense mother of Franklin (Damson Idris). Frustrated in both her personal and professional lives, Cissy has sacrificed her dreams to give Franklin opportunities she never had. London, meanwhile, will play Louise Saint, Franklin’s party-girl aunt.
The show is definitely rounding out, and has the potential to be a hit.
