Kelly Rowland Readying New Album on Friendship and Marriage

Kelly Rowland is a superstar, and she’s gearing up to shine some of her light back on the industry with her fifth record.

Coincidentally, it’s been five years since Rowland has released her last album Talk a Good Game. In a recent interview with Vogue Australia, Rowland reveals the reason behind her hiatus.

The first year was all about allowing herself to be a mother. During the second year she thought about not recording, but kept feeling like she was missing something. The third year came and went. The fourth year she realized she had to be back to work. Which brings us to year five.

She also shared how people think being a mom diminishes sensuality.

“But J. Lo defied that and said it’s not the case,” says Rowland. “Bey did it … all these women do it and I was like: ‘Fuck it, I’m going to do that too.’ And that’s when I started to pick up the pace a little bit. Then I got into the studio and started to find the groove and now the groove is there, it’s rolling.”

Now ready more than ever, Rowland is set to deliver her most personal project yet.

“It’s about love, loss and gain and whether it’s professional or with family or whatever, it’s just honest. I had no choice but to be honest and authentic with this record: it’s about friendship and marriage.”

Rowland has six tracks she loves, but she wants five more including a track about her late mother. “The record about my mother I have yet to put into words, and it will be the hardest record I will ever write.”

The album does have a title, but she isn’t ready to disclose yet. And there is no current release date.

She plans to get back in studio when she returns to Los Angeles, and I couldn’t be more excited about this heat Kelly will soon deliver.
