Jordan Peele has a new movie coming out, and it’s not a comedy. Peele, notably known for his work on Key & Peele‘s, has written and directed a horror film titled Get Out. Although, it seems like racial-thriller describes the feature more accurately.
Here’s a description of the film: When a young African-American man visits his white girlfriend’s family estate, he becomes ensnared in a more sinister real reason for the invitation. At first, Chris reads the family’s overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter’s interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he could have never imagined.
During an interview in 2014, Peele said he wanted to create a horror film that would tell the fears of a Black man today. “I don’t want to say too much about it, but it is one of the very, very few horror movies that does jump off of racial fears. That to me is a world that hasn’t been explored. Specifically, the fears of being a black man today. The fears of being any person who feels like they’re a stranger in any environment that is foreign to them. It deals with a protagonist that I don’t see in horror movies.”
The storyline is brilliant. It’s also produced by the producers of Insidious, so it’s sure to be a box office hit!
Get Out hits theaters in February of 2017. Watch the official trailer below:
