Will Jamal Lyon Die On Empire? (Leaning Towards No)

Last week’s episode of the ground-breaking drama Empire saw Jamal Lyon get shot. Jamal, portrayed by Jussie Smollet, hit the ground and social media went crazy. Jussie quickly sent out a message to his fans stating that he’s thoroughly enjoyed his time on Empire.

The tweet sent fans into a fury. Many social media users begin to mourn the death of the fictional man. ET recently caught up with the Jussie, and he obviously didn’t give a straight answer as to whether he would survive the episode. His response to the reporter’s, Leanne Aguilera, question was to simply watch the episode tonight. Check out that quick clip below:

Here’s why I’m leaning towards no. First, Jussie and Lee Daniels, creator of Empire, are very close. Empire is currently a career making show for Jussie. It definitely isn’t his first acting gig, but this has made him a household name. With the show only being in it’s third season, I don’t see Jussie wanting to walk away from playing Jamal. It’s not the right time, and I don’t see Lee killing off Jamal if Jussie didn’t want to leave.

Second, the episode’s official synopsis leads you to believe Jamal will definitely live. Check it out below:

After a life-changing experience, Jamal refuses to make music until his family ends its seemingly endless cycle of violence and fighting. Meanwhile, the Feds are tailing Anika because they want to force her to testify against Lucious. In order to protect her family, Cookie organizes a meeting at Hakeem and Laura’s wedding with various people from her and Lucious’ past in the all-new Past Is Prologue season finale episode of Empire.

Now how can he refuse to make music if he’s dead? *inserts thinking emoji* However, with TV these days you never know. Do you think Jamal Lyon will be taking his last breath on tonight’s episode of Empire? Weigh in below. Also, don’t forget to tune into the second season finale of Empire this evening at 9pm EST.
