Jada Pinkett Smith Confirms Former Relationship with August Alsina and Reveals Previous Amicable Split with Will Smith at The Red Table

Jada Pinkett Smith brought herself to the red table, accompanied by her husband Will Smith, to address August Alsina’s recent remarks regarding their rumored relationship.

The actress confirmed that a relationship between her and Alsina did transpire and that it occurred while she and Will were amicably split.

Their longtime rumored relationship recently made headlines after Alsina seemingly confirmed it during an interview with media personality Angela Yee.

“I actually sat down with Will [Smith],” said Alsina. “[We] had a conversation due to the transformation of their marriage to life partnership that they’ve spoken on several times and it not involving romanticism. He gave me his blessing.”

The R&B singer followed the interview up with an Instagram post claryfiying that all parties involved were notified prior to the interview being released.

Soon after the interview was released, representatives for Jada and Will denied the relationship, but those denials were in fact not true.

During the 12-minute edition of Red Table Talk, Jada and Will adamantly made it clear that they “specifically never said anything.”

At the beginning of the episode, Jada outright said she considered the situation to be private, but because it’s out, they’re addressing it.

Jada confirmed she and Alsina met approximately four and half years ago. Their relationship and Alsina’s relationship with the Smith family overall started with them connecting him with resources to deal with his physical and mental health.

Jada and Alsina became really good friends, and in the midst, Jada and Will split for an indefinite period.

“We broke up,” said Jada.

“I was done witcho ass,” said Will.

Jada and Alsina’s friendship turned into an entanglement which she later flat out defined as a relationship.

With regard to Will giving them permission, Jada reassured that the only person that could give that type of permission was herself.

“The only person that can give permission in that particular circumstance is myself,” said Jada. “What August was probably trying to communicate […] [ was that] he was not a homewrecker. Which he’s not.”

Jada said she was very broken, and the relationship with Alsina brought up her codependency issues. As she started to heal herself, she and Will started going through a different healing process. And around that point, Alsina cut off all communication with her which she understood.

Overall Jada and Will both stated the timing of Alsina’s reveal was “strange,” but now that it’s out, hopefully healing can continue occurring.

“25 years and counting. We ride together. We die together. Bad marriage for life,” said Jada and Will laughing.
