Is EMPIRE Putting BLACKISH On The Sidewalk

Empire

“The streets ain’t made for everybody; that’s why they made sidewalks.” –Cookie Lyon

You can say what you want, but Empire is a bad show (as in it’s good for those who don’t know the lingo)! That Taraji P. Henson knows that she can act. And can we acknowledge the out of this world chemistry between Henson and Terrence Howard!

The show premiered 2 weeks ago, and it has already been renewed for a season 2. The ratings are record-breaking. Everything is amazing right? When was the last time there was an all black drama with ratings like Empire on TV…. Anything close? Anything? Exactly! I can’t recall any show, so this should be perfect…. Should be

The only sad thing about the hit show Empire is that it can possibly knock out the new hit show Blackish.

Since the premiere of Empire, Blackish has begin to have a decline in ratings.  Three huge Black shows air on the same night: The Game (on BET), Empire (on FOX), and Blackish (on ABC), but Empire and Blackish are the only ones that clash [thankfully BET has some common sense]. Diversity is finally starting to truly take place on major networks, like new show Fresh Off The Boat (I promise it’s not as bad as the name), but why are two of the biggest black shows being pinned against each other?

Notable Point: The last successful black comedies on major broadcast networks were the 2001 family sitcoms My Wife & Kids and The Bernie Mac Show (Deadline).
