The First Cypher from XXL’s 2019 Freshman Class Has Arrived

Lil Mosey, Da Baby, YK Osiris and Megan Thee Stallion made up the first cypher from the 2019 XXL Freshman Class.

Megan Thee Stallion and Da Baby were clear standouts.

Da Baby began trending number one on Twitter in the United States shortly after the cypher dropped.

Fans noticed that part of his rap appeared in a video he posted on Instagram back in April, but as Complex points out, this was a cypher, not a freestyle. Meaning, the rapper can present whatever verse the instrumental moves them to spit.

Nevertheless, as the fan in the above tweet subsequently pointed out, it was still good.

Megan Thee Stallion also ate her time on the mic. She brought her fast, witty, hot girl ish and laid out multiple quotable bars.

“Speakin’ on my name only make it sound better/Your nigga in my DMs and he writin’ love letters/Texas booty lookin’ softer than Hawaiian rolls/I be in the gym, I’m your girl body goals,” rapped the Houston native.

Lil Mosey and YK Osiris also took the mic. Mosey’s bars were unequivocally not as impressive as Megan or Da Baby’s and Osiris sang his verse.
