#CarefreeBlackKids2k16 Is The Smile We All Need

After a week of high profile shootings in the United States, the hashtag #CarefreeBlackKids is exactly what we all needed. The hashtag was created by Heben Nigatu, co-host of Buzzfeed’s podcast Another Round.

The hashtag simply shows Black Kids being allowed to be themselves. It’s not a distraction from the issue. It’s the reason we are fighting. Get some joy, laugh, and smile as you scroll through some of the tweets from #CarefreeBlackKids2k16 (with commentary):

Definitely Iconic

*inserts heart eyes emoji*

That teacher’s face though…

Why would he ever go this hard on her… LMBO!

YESSS! We know how to turn up!

All of us haven’t grown up with the ability to fully embrace who we are. Some of our natural creativity has been stifled by the world trying to make us all the same. Combating police brutality is only the beginning of creating a world where people are only judged by the contents of their hearts.
