In an extensive Instagram caption, August Alsina explained how sharing his truth in a recent interview provided him freedom and clarified that everyone involved in “his truth” was notified ahead of its release.
That truth: His rumored relationship with actress Jada Pinkett Smith.
The R&B crooner seemingly confirmed in a recent interview with media personality Angela Yee that he was in a consenting relationship with Pinkett Smith – approved by her husband Will Smith.
“I actually sat down with Will [Smith],” says Alsina. “[We] had a conversation due to the transformation of their marriage to life partnership that they’ve spoken on several times and it not involving romanticism. He gave me his blessing.”
Jada and Will’s reps both denied the relationship; however, since their initial denial, Pinkett Smith has shared plans to address their rumored relationship on her Emmy nominated Facebook talk show Red Table Talk.
Ahead of Jada addressing bringing herself to the red table, Alsina doubled down on his words being true in the Instagram caption.
“Truth & Transparency makes us uncomfortable, yes, but I can’t apologize for that,” penned Alsina. “A tower of truth can never fall, only a tower of lies can do that. My truth is MY truth, and its mine to own.”
He also made it clear that all parties involved were notified of his statements in the interview.
“With that being said, I should also say that no one was sideswiped by any conversation. Everyone got courtesy calls time in advance,” penned Alsina.
