Today in history Destiny’s Child became one of the best girl groups of all time. On July 27, 1999, Beyoncé, Kelly, LeToya and LaTavia released their sophomore album The Writings On The Wall. The songs from this album are what solidified the group’s career.
The album commonly referred to as Writings On The Wall was the last to feature original group members LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson, but is arguably the groups best album in regard to vocals. Their harmonies on this album were out of this world. “If You Leave” is one of the many songs that showed their growth as a group.
Writings On The Wall spawned many hits and the group’s first number one songs. “So Good,” “Bills, Bills, Bills,” “Bug a Boo,” “Jumpin’ Jumpin'” and “Say My Name” are songs many 90 kids still know word for word.
Although the videos for “Jumpin’ Jumpin'” and “Say My Name” don’t feature Luckett and Roberson, it’s definitely the OG vocals that took over the radios.
