Seconds after her boyfriend was shot, Reynolds took a journalistic approach and begin reporting exactly what occurred. She broadcasted the incident on Facebook live where she says the officer shot him as he was attempting to get his license.
She was later arrested and taken into custody. It was confirmed by Castile’s mother that her son had succumbed to his injuries sustained in the shooting. Today, Castile’s mother, Valerie Castile, and uncle, Clarence Castile, were interviewed by CNN.
Valerie Castile repeatedly mentioned how outraged she was and how mad viewers should be. She explained how she informed her children to always comply with officers, but how now even complying doesn’t mean you come out alive. She believes he was just Black and in the wrong place at the wrong time.
