Issa Rae, John Legend, Tiffany Haddish and More Land 2018 Emmy Nominations

The 2018 Emmy nominations are officially here, and they are full of Black excellence.

Issa Rae earned her first Emmy nomination for Best Actress In A Comedy Series for her role in her critically-acclaimed HBO series Insecure. John Legend was nominated for portraying Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert. And Tiffany Haddish received a nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy Series for hosting Saturday Night Live.

Tracee Ellis Ross was also nominated again in Rae’s category for black-ish. Her on screen husband Anthony Anderson was nominated again for Best Actor In A Comedy Series for black-ish. Regina King earned her fourth Emmy nomination for her phenomenal role in the Netflix series Seven Seconds. And Trevor Noah landed two nominations for producing and hosting The Daily Show.

Film reporter Tre’vell Anderson compiled a list of the Black nominees for the 2018 Emmys coining it “The ‘I’m Rooting for Everybody Black’ Emmys Nom List” after Rae’s famous one-liner.
