NBC Orders Pilot for ‘Bad Boys’ TV Spinoff Starring Gabrielle Union

NBC has ordered a pilot for a Bad Boys television spinoff focusing on Gabrielle Union’s character from the second installment of the franchise.

The untitled series will follow Union’s character Syd Burnett, sister to Marcus (Martin Lawrence) and love interest to Mike (Will Smith), move from Miami to LA.

According to Deadline, Syd is now an LAPD detective and can pursue all the pleasures Los Angeles has to offer and leave her past behind. But things will get complicated when her new partner learns that Syd’s unapologetic lifestyle might be masking a greater personal secret.

Jerry Bruckheimer, who served as a producer for both Bad Boys films, will serve as a producer for the series.

Union currently leads the critically-acclaimed BET series Being Mary Jane, but the series will end with a two hour movie next year.

Although the last project brining back the Bad Boys universe may not happen, it seems like NBC is ready to green light this project. Congratulations to Gabrielle Union!
